Figure Competition Training and Prep

Workout and posing instruction to get you ready for your next (or first)
figure competition
Stop banging your head against
a wall trying to guess about figure competition prep...
I will walk you step-by-step through the entire preparation for your next
competition
The TRUTH about figure competition
training
Getting
ready for a figure competition:
Training for a figure show may be the hardest thing you ever do. Many competitors
train their butts off, put friends and family on the back burner, sacrifice
the things they love to do etc.... and they still look out of shape for a figure
competition (they may look good for the beach - but a figure competition is
another level of fitness!), simply put... they should not have competed! What
a shame! It doesn't matter how hard you train.... it only matters how smart
you train.
Too many competitors are just
winging it:
With the lack of figure coaches and shoddy information online, it can be almost
impossible to properly prepare for a show. You would be shocked at some of
the emails I get from women trying to prepare for a figure competition taking
advice from unqualified trainers (some trainers still make their clients ttrain
in plastic-type suits... which is pretty much like training in a plastic bag
- a good way to get dehydrated and sick... I thought this form of training
disappeared 30 years ago!)
Only a small percentage of figure
competitors succeed:
The truth is that your chances of success are not great if you don't follow
the right routine. DON'T get mesmerized by the top competitors you see in
magazines... they make up a small percentage of all competitors. The rest
are trying to figure it all out and many go into a competition with little
chance of winning because they don't look their best.

With a young daughter and
a full-time job, Pro figure competitor Laurie doesn't have time to waste
following the wrong programs. She comes to my gym, hammers out her workout,
practices her posing and she is out the door... no chit chat, no wasted
time! A true professional.

What is FigureReady?
FigureReady is a 12 week program that teaches you how to workout
and pose for a figure competition. Each week a new link is sent to you for your
next lesson. The program builds upon itself so that you are not overwhelmed.
The workouts get progressively more difficult as you lose more and more body
fat. The posing instruction starts with the basics and then helps you put it
all together. It's exactly how I show my competitors how to pose. No fluff,
no professional models, no special lighting... just real life competitors!

Workouts
The
workouts you need to lose body fat for a figure competition are different than
workouts you see most women performing in the gym. You must do different stuff
and push yourself because you're trying to reach a level of fitness most women
only dream about.
Each week you will receive 3 new workouts. Over the 12 week course the exercises
and workouts will become progressively more difficult. Each workout can be downloaded
and taken to the gym.
- Exercise clips show you how to do the different exercises and also gives
you an idea of the level of intensity you need
- Each workout comes on a separate sheet that can be downloaded... or you
can read them online
- You can do most of these workouts in your home, the equipment you need
is minimum
Workout Errors

Walk in any gym and you will see 98% of the women working out incorrectly (if
their goal is fat loss). If these same women (or you) take these same training
habits and apply them to getting ready for a figure competition... you will
be very disappointed with the results. There are a few different problems which
can derail your fat loss goals, if you follow the wrong program:
1) doing the wrong exercises
2) low intensity
3) too many isolation exercises
4) resting too long between sets
5) lifting too heavy (not enough reps)
Any of the above factors can severely limit how many calories you burn in a
workout, remember, getting ready for a figure competition is all about burning
calories and getting lean (while preserving muscle) - so anything that takes
away from fat lose is a waste of time.

Posing
Too
many figure competitors don't know how to pose.
Unless you have a good figure coach or and 'eye' for posing, you will have a
difficult time learning to pose correctly. You may think you have it... but
one honest look at the pics or
videos from your show may disappoint you.
IT LOOKS SO EASY!
- Watching an experienced figure competitor pose correctly may give you the
false notion that figure posing is easy. The fact is that in order to make it
look easy, a competitor must practice hour upon hour. Every competitor I have
that makes posing look easy are always the one's that practiced most.
Posing errors

Learn what NOT to do onstage. Posing can make the difference
between winning and losing. I've seen many competitors with great bodies, who
didn't know how to present it onstage... sometimes the judges may overlook this
- but I wouldn't count on it!
Some newer competitors are close to posing correctly, and others just look terrible
- I've seen competitors do bodybuilding-type poses, stripper-like moves or other
strange moves. It's not their fault if they didn't have anyone to show them.
You just don't want to be that girl!

..."Other Stuff"
YOUR BIGGEST PROBLEMS: Besides workouts and posing
I talk about other issues that may make or break your preparation. They may
determine whether you compete at all. It's important that you have an understanding
of these things I include in the program. The
workouts are the easy part... it's the problems you face outside
the gym, either from within yourself or from others that will stop you cold
in your tracks. These are often the biggest problems I face in trying to keep
competitors focused. Some of this stuff makes the workouts, diet and posing
seem like fun:
- jealousy
- self-doubt
- being self-centered
- moodiness
- diet 'slip-ups'
- binge eating
- dangerous practices
- stuff that everyone does ...BUT doesn't work
- diuretics
- laxatives
- haters
All the other stuff...
Often, not understanding what it's really like to be a competitor will be
the reason why a would-be competitor quits. This is not like preparing for any
other sporting event... the psychological stress can be immense. Understanding
that fantasizing about food is not 'crazy', not being able to sleep at night
as you get close to competition is not a reason for you to give up.... because
you slip up and eat that piece of cake does not mean you should give it all
up and go binge. Once you understand that you are 'normal' (you know what I
mean) - it will be easier to deal with the different stressors that you will
encounter.
The worst scenario of All!

Don't be that girl....
Don't be the girl who sticks out like a sore thumb onstage! If you've been
to enough figure shows, you've undoubtedly seen the figure competitor who doesn't
belong onstage. Trust me, I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just saying what everyone
in the audience is thinking. Don't be the girl who didn't train hard enough
or who didn't start practicing posing until a week before the show. You can't
hide onstage... do it the right way so you have no regrets.
