I just kept losing and losing and losing, while the guy was slurping his latte and did absolutely nothing to help me. Fine. Maybe he wanted me to learn by myself. After all, I was his volunteer, right? 

Not long after that, he took the laptop, typed something at the keyboard, and opened some kind of software for me. He told me to use that software to play poker. “Just do what the software tells you to do,” he said. At first, I didn’t understand what he was saying, so I simply nodded and went back to my poker game. 

Then it made perfect sense. 

Since I used the software, I kept winning and winning. The software was actually guiding me step-by-step to win the game! At that moment, I really couldn’t believe my own eyes because the winning was so easy, so smooth. 

The win/loss ratio was like 9:1. 

That means I had nine times as many winning moves than losing! No way! 

“Did you realize that you just gave me an extra $400 a second ago?” he asked. 

“What do you mean?”

"Can he really play?" I heard the girl whisper to Rob.

"Yeah he plays really good!" Rob said. "...really good air guitar. He's never played a guitar in his life...but check him out. This'll be hilarious."

I decided to mess with their heads. I pulled an electronic tuner out of my pocket and proceeded to check the tuning. Then I adjusted the guitar strap and flexed my fingers like I'd seen some metal guitarist do one time.

"Go Phil!" called a voice from the rear.

"Yeah dude...rock it up!" said another and they all sniggered. Nobody knew I could play an ordinary guitar let alone an electric one.

And Then I Started To Play

At first I pretended I didn't have a clue what I was doing. I held the guitar the wrong way and deliberately messed up the first chords and had the amp feeding back something horrible. The girls covered their ears. The guys laughed at me. Then I let rip - straight into an Iron Maiden track. I played it all the way through without a mistake. You should have seen the look on their faces! They were amazed. “Dude - when did you learn to play like that?”

I just smiled.

I Blew Them Away

Everybody got quite excited... “Why didn't you tell us you could play like that?"... "Where did you learn?" - "How long you been playing?" - "Who was your teacher?"

"I'm the teacher," I replied. “I taught myself...and just a short while ago I couldn't play a  note."

"You're kidding”, one guy said. "You've been studying for years. I can tell."

"Nope. I kid you not. I've only been playing a short while".

Then I told them the whole story. How I'd managed to find a way to teach myself electric guitar really quick. The same technique I'm going to share with you. I don't either but I bet it's a lot. Why is that? Because the guitar-playing courses out there are just too difficult or too boring. Seems every book on learning guitar is either “how to play lame songs from the 60s” or “how to play at a million miles per hour”…which is fine if you can already play! Some of them have you learning the theory of music as well - learning to read music - and that's a horror-show. Why go down that path? Many of the top metal guitarists can't read a note.  And you don't need to either.

To put it simply - I've discovered an insane secret method which will astonish you…and you will learn to play guitar 10 times quicker!

I taught myself to play with this method and then I went on to teach my best friend. You see, a few years back I had a problem. I had a friend who wanted to play lead guitar in our band. We had a gig coming up at New Year’s Eve but he couldn’t even play a note!

I took all the essential chords which you need to play 90% of metal songs, simplified them in a way that they were easy to play but sounded the same and used these to learn enough songs to play a set list. And it worked! We did the gig using this method. That New Year’s Eve we played to a packed-out hall of screaming metal fans! It’s a feeling you just can’t describe, although that feeling could be yours very soon.

(Oh yeah...I’ll never forget the look on the audience’s faces when our singer announced “Well, I’ve been asked not to swear tonight, and I think I’ve done pretty well, but unfortunately, the next song’s called F**king Hostile, but we’re gonna do it anyway!!!”)
