There's a time and place for it, but that time is certainly not at the beginning of the process.

Doing too much cardio too early in the fat burning process will actually LOWER your metabolism. 

This is because excessive cardio in the early stages will reduce the amount of time your metabolism is effective.

As your ability to burn calories at rest decreases you will either have to do more cardio or reduce your calories even more to continue burning fat-both which will continue to lower your metabolism.

In addition to setting you up for massive fat regain, excessive cardio can also wreak havoc on your hormones.

According to several studies, T3-an important thyroid hormone that affects metabolism-is significantly lowered in individuals who perform intense cardio sessions. That's no good!

Other studies have shown that the stress hormone cortisol is elevated in people who perform excessive bouts of cardio. This hormone causes your body to store fat!


Bodybuilding Myth #4

"You should cut out most of the foods you enjoy, because they will make you fat."

When you drop everything except for "clean" foods from your diet, you run into a HUGE problem.

If you remove all of the foods that you like to eat and limit yourself to only a few foods like broccoli and dry chicken breast you're not going to be successful...at least not for very long.

You simply cannot sustain a diet that you don't enjoy...nobody can!

If you don't allow yourself to eat the foods you enjoy, you WILL eventually hate your diet.

The cravings for all of the "bad" foods that you're avoiding will become so intense that you will eventually go nuts and eat far too much of those high calorie (usually high sugar and high fat) foods.

Trust me! I've been down that road brother and it doesn't matter how strong your will power is. You will eat until your sick, full, and feel horrible.

During this binge session you'll probably consume one or two thousand more calories than you have been and those extra calories are going to go straight into your fat cells!

All it takes is one or two of these binge episodes a month and then you've totally wiped out any caloric deficit you've created and that means you've completely derailed your progress.

You'll NEVER get ripped that way!
