Introducing
"How to Learn French"
the Guide That Will Make a REAL Difference in The Way
You Learn French!
June 25, 2011... From The Desk of Corinne Corbeau:
Dear Friend,
Maybe
you've tried to learn French in the past, but the lessons just didn't "click"
with you. "How to Learn French" not only addresses
the reasons you've had difficulty learning a new language, but it teaches you
positive, sure-fire techniques for learning the kind of French you need to learn
quickly, easily, and effectively.
"How to Learn French" will teach you how to approach the study of
French so you can
- identify your language-learning goals
- choose the right program for your learning style, and
- maximize your opportunities to learn French fast
All this in an easily-downloadable format. Click
here to order it now!
Be advised. "How to Learn French" will not teach you French. It does
not contain dialogues or lists of irregular verbs. Your French instructional
materials, which you will choose and purchase separately, will actually teach
you to speak and read French.
Why
do you need a guide like this?
Can't you just pop in a language CD and start learning? Nice try, but it's
not that easy! Most people, for example, have no idea what kind of French they
need to learn, or even that there are different dialects of French. There are
- and it makes a lot of difference whether you plan to speak French in Quebec
or in Paris.
And the reason you need to learn French makes a lot of difference as well.
If you are planning a short vacation trip to the French countryside, you'll
need a different vocabulary than as if you were planning to study or work in
Paris long-term. "How to Learn French" will help you fine-tune your
options to prepare you to learn just the type of French you need.
But does it really make that much difference what language software
you eventually choose? Aren't they all pretty much the same?
Oh, no, they're not! Some language programs, for example, are almost entirely
auditory in their beginning stages. This is fine for people who learn well by
listening (auditory learners), but a really bad idea for people who need to
read in order to absorb the material (visual learners). And if you're a kinesthetic
learner - a person who learns best by doing -- "How to Learn French"
will give you tips on channeling your abilities to retain what you've learned.
You'll easily discover how to identify your own learning style, and a separate
appendix to the book provides comparisons of several popular language software
systems to ensure that you choose the right one for you.
And best of all, "How to Learn French" will give
you tips that good teachers share with their students to help them learn the
most French in the shortest period of time. These tips are specially targeted
to work with your learning style. Why shouldn't visual learners rely solely
on textbooks for language instruction? What feature of the best computer-based
programs is a boon for kinesthetic learners? What simple tip boosts both your
language facility and your social life? You'll find out in "How to Learn
French."
How do you
know that these tips will work for you?
Because they worked for me.
I've used them - when I was so desperate I thought I'd never learn French.
I once volunteered to take a work assignment that required me to speak French.
My job would be to go to the French countryside and bring back time-tested recipes
and cooking methods, which I would then modify for the American home. Clearly,
I would need to be quite fluent in French - a language I didn't speak at all
- but I wasn't worried.
My mother's parents were German, and I'd taken German to fulfill a foreign
language requirement in high school and done very well. Looking back, I should
have realized that I already had the sounds of German "imprinted"
in my brain from my early years with my grandparents. Silly me. I assumed that
I was just naturally good at foreign languages. All foreign languages. Any foreign
language.
Boy, was I wrong...
For one thing, I don't remember what I hear. I don't mimic accents well, and
I can't recite song lyrics or poems from memory. Often after I listen to a lecture
or news broadcast, I can't remember the thrust of what I just heard.
If you can do those things, you're very likely an auditory learner. Auditory
learners are the best candidates for the most commonly-used method of language
instruction - listen to a phrase, repeat it back. But what about people like
me?
Well, as it turns out, I'm a visual learner. I imprint information on my brain
by reading it. When I'm trying to remember how to spell a word, I actually picture
the word in my mind and read off the letters I "see." I absolutely,
totally do not remember instructions or directions unless they're written down
where I can read them.
Not realizing that my learning style had any bearing on the best way for me
to learn French, I picked up a popular CD-based language program and dove in.
I breezed through the first dialogue, confidently repeating all the words and
even resenting the fact that it was so repetitious. But as soon as I was required
to recall any of the French I'd "learned," I discovered I hadn't learned
it at all. It had gone in one ear and out the other.
I then purchased a French textbook in a used book shop, and discovered that
it's much easier for me to read French, and remember what I've read, than it
is for me to listen to it. Unfortunately, the vocabulary taught in the early
chapters of my French book wasn't the same as the vocabulary on my CDs, and
I had no idea how to pronounce these new words. And in less than two months,
I'd be on my new assignment in France!
A combination of several materials and methods finally gave me the fluency
I needed. Best of all, I'd discovered a great deal about the process of learning,
and how it varies from one individual to another. And I learned a great secret
-
Unless it's
your native tongue, you need to learn HOW to learn a language before you actually
learn it.
And so, upon my return from France, I began work on compiling the tips that
helped me, confident that they would help others. The result was "How to
Learn French." This easily-downloadable guide in PDF format contains:
