You Will Learn To Make a Quilt and Much, Much More....
100% Guaranteed!

If you're like me, when I decided to start quilting, I had no idea how to begin. None of my friends made quilts...nobody in my family made quilts...the one quilt shop in my town didn't have any books for beginning quilters...and I didn't know about quilt guilds. There was no easy way for me to learn to quilt.

I wanted a book that was easy to understand and that had step-by-step instructions specifically written for a beginning quilter. I wanted somebody to take an easy quilt pattern, describe some of the simple color and design choices without turning it into a mind-boggling project, then walk me through the process - from telling me what supplies to buy to showing me how to bind a quilt - with pictures so I could both read and see how to make a quilt. (Kind of like those paint-by-the-numbers kits!)

I wanted a book that I could carry from my cutting table to my sewing machine as I was creating my masterpiece, to compare my results and make sure that I was doing it right.

I spent hours looking for a learn to quilt book for beginners; none was to be found. I started looking at individual quilt patterns - but because the instructions were locked securely inside the package, who could tell whether it would be easy or difficult to make, and whether the instructions would be complete?

Then there were books of patterns that included instructions. There were plenty of different quilt patterns in each book, but the instructions were pretty skimpy, and the pictures were only drawings of the finished pieces, not pictures of what each step looked like as you were cutting, sewing, or pressing.

And, fankly, as I thumbed through the pages, I ended up more confused than I was when I started.

"How Do I Know You Can Teach Me How to Sew a Quilt?"

You ask...And that's great question. After all, there are dozens of people all over the internet today making the exact same claim. So, what makes me different?

Years after I learned how to quilt, my daughter, Stephanie, decided to take sewing classes from Barbara, a lady down the street. Barbara loved to make clothes, and wanted to share her craft with children, so about five of the neighborhood girls went to her house once a week and learned to make clothes.

The clothes were beautiful! And the girls had great fun. Barbara even staged fashion shows in her lovely back yard so these young ladies could show off their accomplishments to family and friends.

Then one day, it happened. Stephanie announced that she wanted to learn how to make a quilt. Barbara panicked. She was an expert at making clothes, but knew nothing about how to sew a quilt. I knew that my daughter didn't want to learn how to make a quilt from me - she wanted Barbara to teach her.

So, Barbara and I hatched a plot.

During the day, when the girls were in school, I went to her house and taught her how to make a quilt. We picked an easy pattern - straight stitching, squares, simple borders, machine quilting, and easy binding. With my step-by-step, easy-to-understand approach, Barbara learned how to make a quilt with skill and ease. That was more than 19 years ago!

Several of the girls started making quilts, and Barbara stayed far enough ahead of them in her lessons that she was able to teach them, using the same step-by-step technique I taught her. At the next fashion show, the girls modeled their clothes and carried their quilts, and Barbara shared the quilt she made, too.

But, you say, Barbara already knew a lot about sewing. What about those of us who are just learning to sew?

So Easy a 7 Year Old Boy Can Make a Quilt!

"Wow!" you say, "Is THAT really possible?"

My 7 year old son made this quilt. If he can make a quilt, you can too!

For years, my son watched Stephanie and me make quilts. When he was 7, he decided he wanted to make a quilt too. Barbara taught him the sewing basics. He made a shirt and a pair of pants.

This small boy made the Solar System Quilt

After about 4 months of basic machine sewing lessons, it was time for him to make the quilt. He decided to make a "Solar System" quilt - complete with planets and stars.

Using the same step-by-step approach I used with Barbara, I taught him how to sew his Solar System Quilt. It took a few weeks of concentrated effort, and his completed quilt still is a source of pride and enjoyment for the entire family! And that was more than 16 years ago.

I could tell you about the Girl Scout Troop, the after school club, and the ladies in the evening sewing group, but you get the idea. I've taught many people with different abilities how to make beautiful quilts. I've been teaching people of all ages how to make a quilt for more than 19 years....And I can teach you, too.

"I am totally pleased with my copy of the "How To Quilt" a beginner's guide to quilting. I have used it several times in making different projects. I love the easy step directions.

We go to Tucson for the winter and stay at an RV park where they have lots of quilting classes and teachers. Everyone that has seen my book remarks on how well written it is. I have several projects going and use this book with each one. I have completed a throw for my 8 year old granddaughter that turned out beautifully and am starting a throw for my 12 year old granddaughter. Thanks for your book and the easy to follow directions!"

Happy Quilting!
Paula Wilson, Canyon, Texas

"I thought your book, A Beginners Guide to Quilting was the easiest to follow, of any beginner books I read. It has helped me quite a bit, since I have never made a quilt before. The way it was put together, makes everything easy to understand, and pretty much most questions were answered, that a beginner would ask. I really look forward to your emails, with free hints."

Joyce M.

"I just wanted to tell you what a joy Nine Easy Steps to Making Your First Quilt was. I have quilted before, but had always done things the old fashioned way(a paper template, scissors and hand made saw horse frames). I had never used a rotary cutter, until I purchased your book. The chapter on stitching HSTs is definitely a time saver. I have finished two quilt tops in less than a week, and couldnt be happier. The first one I made for my granddaughter from a pattern I found on the web called "Scrappy Hearts" from the Delaware Quilts website. The second is "Sweet Baby" from Claudia's Quilt Shoppe website. I modified the basic designs to suit my needs. You will find the pics attached.

The funny thing is I bought your book for my daughter. To help her get into quilting. Looks like I am going to have to order another book for her now, because this one is mine. Thanks for teaching this "old" quilter some new tricks. "

Sincerely, Paula M.

"I loved your "Beginner's Guide To Quilting" book and found it very, very helpful. I read the book, cover-to-cover and it gave me the confidence I needed to attempt my very 1st quilt. I have it setting right next to my sewing machine so I can refer to it often."

Brenda Coburn, Las Vegas Nevada

"I learned a lot of helpful details from the book. It's all the little details like how to use a walking foot with machine quilting, techniques with hand quilting, how to cut and measure the fabric properly, and what kinds of borders can be applied and how to make them, that makes quilts unique and look professional. I was able to finish a beautiful quilt as well as design quilts for each of my five sisters. I knew nothing about quilting before and now I have a great hobby and I get some beautiful quilts too."

Jennifer Anderson, Fairfield, Ohio

Here's What People are Saying about
A Beginner's Guide to Quilting

“Although I have not made a quilt using your instructions I am very impressed with the amount of detail contained in the book. It really is an ideal 'beginners' book and a very useful 'memory jogger' for someone who is more than a beginner but certainly not an expert. I enjoy all your different information packages and collect them all. My only complaint is of my own making - in trying to keep some sort of system with my down-loads I keep forgetting what the system is and have to sort through my various PC folders. Don't worry about that though, it gives me an excuse to read a lot of the others again.

Please keep up the good work and keep those emails flying. Many thanks from Bedfordshire in England."

Georgina Farrent, Bedfordshire, England

“Penny, you still provide the very best beginners' guides - more concise, to-the-point, step by step, assuming nothing - that in spite a quilting classes, I find myself referring to my dog-eared pages of "A Beginner's Guide to Quilting"

Diane Wollen, Albuquerque, New Mexico

“Hi Penny, What a lovely book, well put together and so easy to underatand. I now understand what 'Fat Quarters' are. I wasn't aware of what they were [being English] but the whole thing was explained to me in the Glossary.

I'm going to a day course shortly and I'm hoping I shall be a step ahead of the others, when I go armed with my book, well worth the money, especially with the exchange rate being what it is today. I'm so pleased I decided to place my order. It came within a week. Thanks, Penny.

Love, ”

Pam Ellmer, Reading, UK

“I really found your book to be easy to follow and it made my first 3 quilts (which were table runners) a snap to make. The binding instructions were especially helpful. I've attached a picture of one of the runners I made. I ended up giving all three away for Christmas presents, so I only get to enjoy them when I go visiting, but it was fun anyway!! Thanks for all the help.”

Juli Farley, Waco, Nebraska

"Your package arrived two days ago, thanks.
Your book is not only idiot-proof, it's humorous. Really enjoyed reading it."

Syndy, Australia

"Thank you Penny, for responding back to me!

I was able to download the file and open it late yesterday. I printed off the book and have all ready read through most of it. I'm looking forward to starting my quilt. I have hand quilted before with some little projects such as pillows and wall hangings but my ultimate goal is to complete a full size quilt!!!

And I think with your book that goal will be met! Thank you again!"

Paula Randall, St. Augustine, Illinois

"The Beginner's Guide resolved the issues with those seemingly difficult mitered corners. After receiving the guide and following the instructions carefully mitered corners are no longer a challenge."

Jona Maynard, Grifton North Carolina

"I read the whole book in one sitting because I was so excited to get started. Plus, it was easy to read and was very informative. I have already put together a small quilt for practice, and working on my second one. It takes me a little longer mainly because not only am I a beginner quilter but also a beginner sewer!! :) Thanks for all the extra reports too, they were very helpful to me."

Stephanie Kelly, Loveland, Colorado

My Pain is Your Gain....

Here's the best news of all: you can take advantage of an extraordinary offer.

This book was many months in the making. Because I love quilting so much, it really wasn't painful, but it was a huge time commitment.

Once I decided on a quilt design that would be easy for you to learn, I set about picking fabrics. Normally that would be just a fun thing to do, however, I wanted to make sure that the fabrics I picked would be easy for you to follow and understand how the pattern fit together.

And I thought about and studied the size of the quilt for you to make. Certainly there are good things about making a bed size quilt, but for a starting project, my friends and I decided that a small quilt, maybe even wall hanging size, would be the best. That way, you can learn quickly and begin your next quilt right away.

Then I outlined each step and decided what was important to show you on your quilting journey. Then I set about making the quilt, taking notes of important tips to include, and taking pictures of each and every step as I made the quilt.

I wanted to be sure that you had all of the tips and tricks that took me years to discover.

Then, I fired up my computer and began to format the pictures and write it all down. That took weeks. It would have been so easy to just rely on the pictures to tell a thousand words, but I knew if I did that, my book would be just like every other beginning quilting book on the shelf or on the internet - worthless!

And I wanted my book to be a truly valuable guide for YOU, the quilter.

....And at a Great Price too!

So, you now see why my family thinks I should be selling this resource for a very high price. They know how much time, thought and fabric went into it.

But I convinced them that I should try this price as a part of a marketing test. They are still wondering whether I have truly lost my mind.

Once you see what's included in this Guide, you'll see that this instruction could only be gotten at a week-long workshop. Not even a one-day or weekend workshop has all of the information contained in this Guide.

You would easily pay $40.00 for a one day workshop plus buy a book for another $20.00, and spend all day Saturday learning the basic steps for making a quilt. Thing is, because making a quilt takes time, about all you would be able to accomplish during the class would be to cut your fabric, and maybe sew a couple of blocks.

The teacher could tell you how to sew the blocks together, add the borders, layer the quilt, quilt the quilt and then bind the quilt. After those brief instructions, you would be on your own. Home, with just your notes from the class, a pile of cut fabric in a bag, and a bundle of confusion about what to do next, other than put the bag in a closet and hope for a miracle (or maybe just an elf to sew it together for you).

Then, there's the possibility of signing up for a year-long class at a local community college. Assuming there is one nearby, you could drag yourself every week to a class - come rain, snow or shine - with quilters of all levels. Some fast, some slow, some whiny, some cheerful. The point is that your learning is limited by other people in the class and the teacher's reaction to them. She could decide that the people in the class couldn't handle ALL of the secrets and tips she has to share, and then you wouldn't get all of the information. Besides, who says she would even think of sharing all of her secrets? Many quilters protect their quilting secrets like family recipes, always leaving some key ingredient out..

Plus, we all know that getting to every single class for 26 weeks in a row is pretty impossible. After all, one week the dog might need to go to the vet, and then you'd miss everything from that week!

You could buy every beginning quilting book on the shelf. A quick search on amazon.com turned up 26 books for beginning quilters. Full price, those books cost a total of $552.76, and even the used, well-worn books would set you back $378.13. You'd have a lot of great quilting information. Thing is, each book would have a different way to do the same thing, and it would be up to you to figure out which is best.

It has taken me more than 26 years to sort through all of the different ways to do stuff, and pick the easiest way. Plus, all of the other books about learning how to quilt have a chapter about rotary cutting, a chapter about sewing patches, a chapter about sewing blocks together, a chapter about sewing borders, a chapter about binding, a chapter about quilting. Sounds good, but there is no Step-by-Step from Start to Finish.

You get the idea; there are chapters in the other books about each of the critical steps in making a quilt. But none of them take you by the hand and walk you through step-by-step, showing and explaining exactly what to do, how to do it, and what your project will look like each step along the way.

Or you could learn how to quilt like most quilters do - take 25 years picking up tidbits and scraps from a random quilter here and another seamstress there. Thing is the folks who do it that way suffer from frustration, hundreds of UFOs (Un-Finished Objects), and thousands of dollars invested in fabric, books, patterns, and quilting tools, and maybe not even a finished quilt to show for all of their time and effort.
