Learn to determine if the crafts you do with kids are the beneficial kind or not.

Would you be interested in the most unique art and crafts for kids that you will not find ANYWHERE on the internet that are TRULY developmentally appropriate?

Introducing a Three Step System to maximizing and turbo charging your Early Childhood art activities using the most amazing art system for kids anywhere.

You've been there haven't you? Scrolling through the web looking for the perfect crafts or art activities for your young students.

And all you keep finding are the same, boring, traditional copycat arts and crafts.

Or it's "Teach kids how to draw in 4 easy steps" where they have to follow some step by step actions to drawing the same boring apple or boat.

Nothing really creative or different.

Now envision an art system for kids, sort of like a magic box of developmentally appropriate crafts and art ideas that you open up and take out exactly the perfect art or craft idea you need for that day?

Not a dream anymore but a reality. No more scrolling through web site after web site to find what you are looking for.

A warning though before I continue!

This information is only for those adults that believe in progressive education.

If you are still stuck in the traditional mold of copycat arts and crafts have a hard time changing, then stop reading right now.

If however, you are sold on doing arts and crafts in a developmentally appropriate manner then I'm probably alot like you.

My name is Faige Kobre. I love kids as I'm sure you do, and I actually started my Early Childhood teaching years ago doing traditional arts and crafts. It's what all the other teachers in the school that I was working at were doing.

As my first year of teaching progressed I felt that something was missing. The crafts I was giving the children just didn't feel right too me. The kids finished it too quickly and the activities just didn't seem to engage them.

All the other teachers were doing the typical 20 of the same, cut out projects and nobody seemed to know any different.

I tried to incorporate some simple collage activities into my art curriculum with the children, but all collage was at the time was using old cut up pieces from projects which didn't keep the children's interest very long either.

And the only thing the other teachers had to say about their crafts activities was...

"That's what the parents want"

Which frustrated me.

Is that how we should really be determining what to teach kids; what the parents want? What if its not good for the kids?

I finished that year up as a novice teacher and soon ended up at the graduate school called, Bank Street College of Education.

Bank Street, a preeminent graduate school of progressives education had a philosophy was a breath of fresh air for anyone interested in progressive education.

Problem was; Bank Street does not advocate ANY crafts, only real art, but I was still teaching in a traditional school setting, dealing with parents who did need to see some sort of crafts projects. They still wanted tangible crafts to help commemorate holidays, and other events.

What I learned in Bank Street was put so eloquently by an author who had nothing to do with child development. His name is Clotaire Rapaille and as he wrote in his best selling book The Culture Code....

"We do the overwhelming majority of our learning when we are children. By the time we are 7 most of our mental highways have been constructed"

I realized after seeing this quote what a responsibility we the Early Childhood Educators have towards our charges. We need to give our children the foundational skills to help them construct the proper mental highways.

Another non child educator seemed to have set the educational direction we need to go in by his book called " A Whole New Mind". In his book the author, Daniel Pink discusses the need for the educational system today to shift into right brain thinking as opposed to left brain teaching.

Our schools have always heavily concentrated on preparing children for their future by heavily concentrating on left brain activities. However, the left brain activities that we have trained our children for can now have their jobs out sourced for a quarter of what they would get paid for the same jobs in the States.

Mr. Pink's point: Its' time to start teaching our kids to rely on their creativity and ingenuity to prepare them for the years ahead.

If you realize that successful kids are not robots then we have to give them activities which makes sure they can think and solve problem and not just follow robotically.

Case in point: Copycat arts and crafts encourages children to follow instructions without any thinking or creative skills involved at all, making kids into robots.

Now there may be are many other ways to get children to use their right brains to think creatively and solve problems. However, young children are very involved in art and most Early Childhood programs spend much of their curriculum on art projects.

So If that's what children are capable of at that age and that's what do alot of, then that's where we have to meet them to help them construct their mental highways.

Make them smart and creative through art and crafts.

And you want to know... how can art make kids smart and creative PLUS keep the parents happy.

Let me share with you what I discovered......

When you give children developmentally appropriate art projects and you explain to the parents WHY you are doing so then....

you get very happy parents...

which doesn't mean that they are just happy with mushy paintings and sloppy collages. They still DO want projects. Albeit ones that are educational appropriate.

One of the problems in this scenario is that many educators that are proponents of progressive art don't believe in ANY crafts projects, but only mushy paintings and sloppy collages. So how does one make happy parents and smart, creative kids, without compromising one iota on developmentally appropriate crafts for kids.

Simple!

The Three Part Art System of Educational Art

A unique, children's art and crafts system that encompasses every area of development children need to develop the right thinking and problem solving skills, develop initiative, max out their creativity and tremendously boost their self esteem.

Because!

  • There are thousands of crafts activities out there on the web, but most of them are typical, copycat crafts. And finding the good ones is tedious work.
  • You want to do more developmentally appropriate crafts but need crafts that actually LOOK like something, not just messy paintings.
  • There is very little guidance for teachers who would love to give their students more collage and more painting without being clueless what to do when the kids get bored with the same boring cut up pieces. (especially if you're not an art teacher)
  • You want to give kids art activities that keep them engaged, interested and focused and allow the utmost creativity at the same time.

But you don't want to spend hours upon hours sifting through web sites to find the perfect crafts.

And there are no web sites that give step by step sequential, developmentally appropriate collage and painting ideas for kids PLUS crafts that also fit the bill.

At least I haven't found any. So I did the work for you, creating the perfect art and crafts system to fit the myriad holidays and then added in all the wonderful activities you can do with collage and painting.

I actually put together a sequential art system that fits into all areas of an early childhood classroom.

I started out this system by initially creating a crafts based course.

It was called Learning Through Crafts and was based on crafts that needed to be done for holidays, national holidays etc.

As I was also giving workshops to teachers at the same time and getting feedback on my course I realized that there was something lacking in that course.

Many teachers did not only want to give the kids crafts. They also wanted real art activities like collage and painting but had no guidance in how to lead children along in these activities. (If they weren't experienced art teachers.)

So I decided to add a few new components to the course and instead of it being just Learning Through Crafts it now is based on the workshops I give to teachers called 3 Part Art

Here's what's included in The 3 Part Art System of Educational Art

Module #1: The original Learning through Crafts

  • Educational art and its importance for kids.
  • How adults can interact with the children's art.
  • The 5 categories of crafts that encompass Educational Crafts.
  • All of the holidays and seasons from around the world and crafts to do for them.
  • A cross indexing of crafts so they can be used for any theme or unit.
  • Tips for doing crafts at birthday parties
  • A letter to parents explaining these methods of art so you don't have to write it yourself.

Module #2:

  • Hooked on collage: An e book with a sequential collage program that takes you through simple, beginning shape collages, through more advanced art collages.
  • Along with each type of collage are pictures from different ages of children's collages so that you can see what to expect.
  • A series of full color photographs that you can use for inspiration for the more sophisticated art collages.
  • How to figure out ideas for your own collages based on the unit or theme you want to use.
  • What should I Paint Now? An e book taking you on a painting journey where children learn things like
  • Making a color wheel
  • Hues, values, tone, negative space, horizon lines etc.
  • Many activities taking children to the next level in painting, so when they say what should I paint now...you'll know how to guide them.

Module #3:

  • What can I do with ...? An e book helping you set up an art center in your Early Childhood classroom that does a lot more than just collect paint and paintbrushes.
  • A list of household and recyclable materials that you can give to the children on a daily basis to jumpstart their creativity.
  • Advanced challenges to keep the art center fresh and exciting

What this 3 Step art system will do for you!

  • You will save hours of time and effort scrolling through web sites looking for that perfect art or crafts activity.
  • You will have the knowledge at your fingertips to communicate to parents the need for doing art this way.
  • You will have reduced discipline problems as the children become calmer and more focused with all of their new art activities.
  • You will be a more fulfilled teacher as the children eat up this type of artwork.
  • You will have peace of mind knowing that you are giving your students (and or children) the best art for their development.

Because this easy to use course

  • Encourages children to think and solve problems.
  • Opens up the well springs of creativity
  • Helps build up children's self confidence to take initiative
  • Gives them a can do attitude.
  • Ensures they are not becoming little robots.
  • Keeps them engrossed in their projects for longer periods
  • Will give their self esteem an amazing boost

Learning Through Crafts and imagine how much better is
The Three Part Art System of Educational Art

and imagine how much better the new revised 3 step system is.

"Children's art books that I have looked at recently seem to be about adult art but tapered down" For anyone wishing to change over to win-win educational arts and crafts this is the perfect guide to help you do just that. I am not sure what is available out there for free but this is one of the first that I have read that is written in a clear easy to follow way."

Karen Gross, England

" Your course dealing with educational arts and crafts is marvelous. All parent and educators want their children to make things. Making things that teach them creativity and improve self esteem is killing two birds with one stone"

Denise Grunberg, Sydney, Australia

"This is really a course for everybody. I've seen many things that were process only art that were for teaches only but this is for everybody. I love your philosophy about self esteem and art"

Chana Zuber Boston Massachusetts

"The information you have here is sorely lacking in most art books and especially in crafts books. I think people that take on this method will take the pressure off of children to perform beyond their capabilities and ages. I don't care if their granny is a famous south African artist, the child must do what he can at his and her level"

Jenna Haselton South Africa

"I feel that Faige's enthusiasm is contagious and her approach is very passionate. It will be very helpful in giving this method over to our children. This course is a good addition to any educator or parent willing to develop the best in the child's creative maturation"

Solange Depintor Sao Paolo, Brazil
