How to Help Your Child Get a Great Education

My name is Julie Peters. I am the proud parent of four beautiful children, ranging in age from 4 to 12 (that's me and my three youngest to your left).

As a committed and loving parent, I know just how much of an impact education can have on children. Over the last 10 years, I have volunteered in the classroom, watching my children and other parents' children develop their natural instincts to learn.

I can tell you without hesitation that when children learn, they engage many natural tendencies... including the inclination to be independent and make decisions, create order and develop self discipline. Children learn by using creativity, effort and concentration as a means of reaching their highest potential.

How My Son Jacob Almost "Fell Through the Cracks" in School

When my oldest son Jacob was only 5, his teachers started calling to tell me he was having trouble in the classroom. Jacob's teachers felt he might be attention disordered, because he was not able to sit at his desk for more than an hour or so at a time, and didn't seem to interact well with other students.

At first, I presumed my child was simply adjusting to spending time in the classroom environment.

As time went on, I received more frequent calls from Jacob's teachers, who insisted that he should be held back. They all claimed he was not mature enough to progress to the first grade.

I was shocked at their comments, because Jacob demonstrated consistently normal behavior while at home and in other group settings. He never had any trouble with other children when they got together for play dates, and interacted frequently with other children in social settings.

Discovering the World of Montessori

It was around this time that my neighbor Lori happened to mention that she had placed her child in a Montessori school.

I didn't have any idea what Montessori was, but was impressed with her children's achievements in school. I started asking Lori a lot of questions, and when I felt I learned as much information as I possibly could from her, I decided to start visiting some of the Montessori academies in my area.

I was pleasantly surprised at the warm reception. All of the schools allowed me to spend time in the classroom observing their practices and teaching methods.

What amazed me most, was the level of excitement demonstrated by children in the Montessori school.

I found a school that I liked, and briefly discussed with the Montessori teacher my concerns about Jacobs's behavior in public school.

After assuring me that Jacob's experience was a very common mistake made by kindergarten teachers, the Montessori school's director didn't hesitate a moment and strongly recommend I have Jacob try a year with them. Well, without hesitation I enrolled Jacob for school at Montessori that Fall. My son was actually termed 'gifted' within weeks of attending Montessori. Several of the staff commented on his enthusiasm, creativity and willingness to help out other students in the classroom.

I was so impressed with his improvements I volunteered to help out in the classroom a few times a month.

Since that time as my children have reached school age, I have enrolled all of them in schools practicing the Montessori method of teaching. None of my children have had any problems, and they have all excelled and surpassed their peers on educational assessment tests.

I learned many things while my children have been learning in Montessori. From other parents and skilled educators, I learned that children need to be encouraged to choose from a variety of different developmental activities.. so they learn how to teach themselves.

Over the past 10 years, I've learned that all children have a natural inclination toward self-learning. And at Montessori, educators partner that natural instinct with expert guidance. So children have the opportunity to develop and cultivate a sense of integrity and achieve their highest possible potential.

Jacob was NEVER "attention disordered." He just needed a guide to respect his individuality and growth potential. Had I accepted the poorly thought-out diagnosis of his kindergarten teachers, Jacob would've been doomed to a lifetime of medication, misunderstanding and failure in the classroom.

How I Went from Active Montessori Parent to a
HUGE Fan of Montessori Schools and Author

Now, how did I go from parent to author?

I just knew I had to get the word out about Montessori's amazing teaching method. I also discovered on my journey of learning that there are very few written materials available about Montessori, which is really a shame. I literally spent hundreds of hours collecting information in order to ensure I was making the best decision for my children.

Now, reflecting back on my 10 years of experience as an actively involved Montessori parent, I wanted to spare other parents the long hours of research, and provide them with a concise resource for learning about this amazing and unique educational program.

So I wrote the, "The Montessori Parents Guide" as a way to help parents realize and understand the best method for promoting high academic achievement and instilling a lifelong desire to learn in their children.

Here's just a small sample of what you'll learn when you download and read "The Montessori Parents Guide".

  • Discover what a Montessori education is... You'll understand why so many parents are interested in Montessori and what it's doing for their children. (pages 7-9).
  • Learn how Montessori Methods differ from traditional classroom environments... and the 13 core reasons why Montessori education is better than a traditional education. (pages 15-16)
  • Uncover the secrets to lifelong learning. (page 17)
  • Find out why classroom size matters and how Montessori classrooms are structured to facilitate group interaction and cognitive development. (pages 26-27)
Please note: The "The Montessori Parents Guide" is an all-digital product in Adobe Acrobat Reader .pdf format ... meaning it's 100% immediately downloadable within 60-90 seconds of your purchase (so you can get it in your hands today). Nothing ships through the mail. But you get the huge advantage of getting started right now.

Montessori doesn't just offer an education... it offers a philosophy for learning.

Children participating in Montessori programs learn how to communicate, how to interact with children and adults of varying ages, and how to understand how they learn as individuals.

Find Out How Montessori Guarantees Individual Attention for Your Child

Many parents are interested in Montessori programs because friends of family members have encouraged them to check out the program. Perhaps some of the most common concerns voiced by prospective parents relate to the standards a Montessori education offers. Find out how you can take the guesswork out of being an empowered Montessori parent and...

  • Learn how to track the progress of your children through the system. (pages 53-54)
  • Discover how you know if your child's Montessori education is effective... and how exactly its principles are measured. (pages 21-24)
  • Accurately predict whether your child learns individually, in a manner and pace that is acceptable to you. (pages 21-24)
  • Discover proven methods for determining what education is best for your child. (pages 18-19)
  • Find out about the difference Montessori makes in the lives of children vs. a traditional classroom environment. (pages 16-17)

Unlike a traditional classroom environment, Montessori educators ensure that each child is accounted for individually. Montessori offers proven methods for assessing student achievement and progress, and helps children learn how to become self-sufficient during the learning process.

Don't you want your child to have the best education and the best environment possible?

Then you owe it to yourself and your child to get your hands on the Montessori Parents Guide today.

Here's some feedback we just received from a retired Montessori School owner, Montessori School consultant, and former public school teacher.

"...excellent... accurate and current
...so valuable that I recommended it to all Board members... and our parent library"

"Thank you for writing the Montessori Parents Guide! I found it full of really worthwhile information. You did an excellent job of research and I find your information accurate and current. I appreciate the wealth of Web sites you have provided. You show a remarkable understanding of Montessori philosophy and method.

I am a retired former public school teacher turned Montessorian. About 22 years ago, I retired from public school and founded Casa Montessori School, as a not for profit school. I retired from Montessori in 1994, but am still a consultant for the Board of Directors. At the present time we are undergoing some changes in staffing of the school and in structure of the Board.

I found your Montessori Parent Guide so valuable that I recommended it to all Board members, because they keep telling me they would like to be more knowledgeable about the method. I also recommended that a copy be in our parent library."

Montessori and Social Interaction: Why Grouping Is Critical

One of the more well-known features of Montessori education is the practice of grouping together children, at different ages, to enhance communication and understanding.

Montessori programs believe that children learn to interact and develop better communication skills when they are learning in an environment that is diverse and cultured.

In the "Montessori Parents Guide", you'll

  • Discover what possibilities for interaction are between students in a Montessori environment. (page 21)
  • Find out why grouping children that are different ages is better for your child. (page 11)
  • Uncover what exactly the Montessori philosophy entails. (page 10)
  • Learn how you can become involved in your child's education and build a relationship with their teacher. (page 27)
  • Get facts on whether a Montessori program can accommodate your child, if your child should at some point need a smaller learning environment or more teacher directed program. (pages 23-24)
  • Why the Montessori schools claim to have a teaching style that is superior to all others... and the data to back up Montessori schools' claims. (pages 26-27)
  • Find out if there is enough development and stimulation of children's imaginations in a Montessori environment. (pages 19-20)

In a traditional classroom setting, children often aren't afforded the opportunity to participate in frequent interactive activity with children of varying ages.

Montessori believes that children have a lot to learn from each other. Children are grouped in classroom settings where they are afforded the opportunity to interact with all children, not just those that are their age.

This is particularly beneficial for older children, who often learn to respect and be protective of younger children in the classroom setting.

  • Assess whether or not it's too late to start a child on a Montessori education, if that child attended traditional school from grade K through 3. (pages 41-42)
  • Learn what the main focus of Montessori is and why so many parents prefer Montessori over traditional classroom settings. (page 41)
  • How Montessori can instill in children a craving for lifelong learning. (pages 38-40)

  • Discover what you can do, if you would like your child to be intellectual, gentle and well balanced. (page 40)
